Mini review: Hada Labo Perfect UV Gel SPF50+ PA++++

By Amanda - augusti 10, 2017

Next up is the Hada Labo Perfect UV Gel SPF50+ PA++++. I purchased this at the same time as the Bioré one, but I decided to wait a bit with using this one until I had thoroughly used the Bioré, so I could also compare the two. I purchased this from ebay for £8.53. It's only 50ml compared to the Bioré which is 90ml.

The texture of this sunscreen is similar to the Bioré, slightly less watery, but still not a gel. It separated in the picture above when I was moving my hand but when applying it normally there is no separation.

It blends out liquidy and nice. This sunscreen does not pill in the hairline at all, unlike the Bioré.

Blended in, it sinks quickly into the skin, leaving it with a slight sheen finish, which is not noticeable at all if you compare with the greasier western sunscreens. There is no white cast.

I can apply makeup over this just fine, any foundation does not interfere or change anything with the sunscreen. Overall, this is very similar to the Bioré, and it is a great product.

However, I purchased this item reading that Rotho, who owns Hada Labo, were cruelty free, but after further research, Hada Labo is sold in China. I can't find specific information if it is imported, or only made separately in China.

A company can sell in China without testing on animals by manufacturing the products directly in China instead of importing. Only imported items have to be tested on animals, as far as I understand it. The best information I can find about Hada Labo is that they do sell products in China that are made in China, but not much if they also import. If anyone has any sources if they do or not, I would greatly appreciate it.

Because the information is so vague I don't feel comfortable purchasing from this brand again until they can confirm that they do not import and test on animals in China.
