Bondi Sands Ultra Dark Tan

By Amanda - augusti 27, 2017

I purchased this at Superdrug, I bought 2 bottles as they had the promos "Buy 1 get 2nd half off" + 20% off sun products.

I bought this because all the previous tans I'd used were disappointing (St Moriz, Cocoa Brown) in terms of color. Despite them claiming ultra dark, super dark etc, they all gave a light medium tan.
I'd read so many reviews, I saw all the instagram pictures of this product, youtube videos.. So I thought, well this is a bit pricier but maybe it's better? Now this product is what made me start this blog because it's so awful, but I didn't want to use it again so there will be no before and after pictures in this one.

It pumps out looking like most other tans, very foamy. It has a slight shimmer to it.

I first applied this tan after using the tan eraser. I used a terrible mitt for this the first time, so it applied awfully, but the second time I used my St Moriz mitt which was much better. (The mitt didn't actually affect the end result, just the application process.)

Guide color with 1 coat (I washed this off directly after because I didn't want to use this tan again, just wanted to show the guide color.)

I put on two coats like they suggest all over their Instagram. I waited and waited but it never dried. I sat down on my chair and it completely transferred onto it. There was still tan on my skin, and it no longer felt sticky in those areas but half of the tan was now on my chair. And I waited ~30 minutes before I actually sat down because I thought maybe it needs some more time to dry. But no, even after 9 hours it was still sticky and awful.

You can forget about sleeping with this tan on you, it'll feel like you're insanely sweaty and gross, while all the tan transfers to your bedsheets.

I washed it off after 8 hours the first time and 9 the 2nd time, but I was still really pale. I've definitely had better results with my other tans. Even with double coating, this tan did almost nothing! I did not even get the light medium tan, it was just a very light tan.

Something all these tans have in common, like I mentioned in my Cocoa Brown Bronzing Gel review, is that they don't want to stick to my chest. This one also did not do that, but even worse, it also didn't stick to my arms! My hands were tanned but my arms and chest were not.

I definitely had higher hopes for this more high end tan but it's way worse than the really affordable ones!

I have no idea how some reviews says it dries quickly, surely it can't be different drying process for different people? The color might be affected but the formula itself shouldn't be any different.

And I've learned of course, to never trust the instagram pictures of tans as they are always taken with the guide color, and not actually washed off, developed tan.

I will absolutely not repurchase this product, it's by far the worst tan I've ever used, color result is awful but the most awful thing is that it never dries. That's absolutely a dealbreaker for me. Save your money and get one of the affordable tans.
