Bondi Sands Self Tan Eraser

By Amanda - september 07, 2017

I purchased this product from Boots, which is the exclusive seller of this product in the UK. It retails for £14,99. I can't remember if I paid full price or if there was an offer.

I bought this after reading good reviews and the claims of the product, because I'm pretty lazy when it comes to removing my tan. I usually just use a mesh loofah on day 5-7 but that doesn't remove much.

The instructions on the bottle read:

Step 1: For best results, apply Bondi Sands Self Tan Eraser to dry skin after at least 3 days of applying self-tan.

Step 2: Pump foam applicator firmly and apply Bondi sands Self Tan Eraser liberally to the skin. Leave the Self Tan Eraser on the skin for at least 5 minutes.

Step 3: Shower with warm water using a wet face cloth to wipe away the tan. For more stubborn areas or dry skin, use the Bondi Sands Exfoliating Mitt to gently remove the tan.

I applied it like it said, my first time using it, it stung a little all over the body. If you have any sensitive areas such as eczema like I did, don't apply it on those areas because it will feel burning. I just washed that area immediately and left it alone.

After 5 minutes I go into the shower and start "wiping" as adviced. Bondi Sands advertises this as a "5 minute" tan eraser, and "Don't waste time scrubbing your tan off!".

I did not time it the first time around, the second time it took me 45 minutes in total to scrub all the tan off my whole body. The other times, my boyfriend has helped me and it usually takes us about 20-30 minutes.

As you can see from a far it does look like all the tan came off.

Up close tells a different story! This is my arm, it looks like this no matter how hard I try to scrub, with whatever tool I use. The majority of my tan does scrub off but I'm left with this freckly tan.
I've almost used the whole bottle up now, and I've tried with a face cloth, an exfoliating glove and a freaking brush! I've also used it with different tans, and it doesn't matter. Results are the same.

I definitely don't think this product is as revolutionary as it claims. Don't need to spend time scrubbing off tan with this product? That's exactly what I have to do.. Because I have to scrub either way, why would I waste 5 extra minutes idle waiting for the product to "do it's magic" on my skin before the shower?  I can just get an actual tan scrub product like Cocoa Brown Tough Stuff (which I actually don't know if it's any good, it's my next product to try!) that costs half as much.

The issue that makes me not want to repurchase this product is because it gives me an allergic reaction in my armpits! I get something that resembles an eczema. The product is better than not using any tan eraser product at all, but how much better? Because of its limited availability and my allergic reaction, I'll probably not pick this up again unless it's on offer. It's just not living up to the claims they post all over their instagram.
